Introducing Battle of the Founders! This three-phase event is for all start-ups who are READY TO GROW - determined to build and succeed.
Battle of the Founders is dedicated to equity crowdfunding. It involves educating founders on the capital raising method and includes a hands-on workshop to refine your pitch to intrigue all investor types. Then comes the battle – where three external experts will judge the pitches.
Who should partake? All founders who are on the cusp of commercialisation or already generating revenue, and are ready to raise growth capital.
From the six finalists chosen to continue to the grand final, three will come out as winners - drawing from a prize pool worth a total of $50,000. Including private mentor sessions with industry experts, assistance creating investor assets, strategy development, and fast-tracked access to equity crowdfunding.

The 'Battle of the Founders' Outline
Phase 1: Keynote Presentation
Wednesday 6th July - COMPLETE
In partnership with Fishburners, we hosted a keynote presentation on Wednesday the 6th of July to educate all participants on equity crowdfunding. We discussed p the equity crowdfunding space in Australia and globally, case studies, and the 5 key ingredients to success based on the previous campaigns.

Phase 2: Equity Crowdfunding Pitch Workshop
Wednesday 27th July - COMPLETE
This workshop will be held in Fishburners space on Wednesday 27th of July. In order to attend, you will need to register your spot and be a virtual or physical Fishburners member at the time of the workshop. Click here to become a virtual member, or here to become a physical member.
In order to move onto the grand final, you must attend this workshop. In this workshop we will answer any and all questions about equity crowdfunding, as well as work with you on your pitch and pitch deck - putting your business model into language that attracts investors and generates excitement within the crowd.
By 5pm on the 8th of August, you must have submitted your pitch deck and pitch video to OnMarket. Your pitch video is a maximum of 5 minutes, and does not require a budget or fine polish.
Then, based on a marking criteria, OnMarket will then chose 6 finalists to pitch at the pitch night - 3 of which will receive a prize.
Phase 3: Battle of the Founders - Pitch Grand Final
Friday 26th August
On this night, the six companies chosen to continue from the earlier round will pitch to the audience and a panel of three external judges.
The judges will chose the winner and runner up, and the crowd will then pick their favourite. The three winners will all receive a prize. See below for a prize breakdown.
